HOME REALLY IS WHERE THE HEART IS
When Sue and Jeremy Bale held their wedding reception at The Melton Grange Hotel in Woodbridge, Suffolk back in 1969, never did they imagine that over 40 years later they would find their dream home in the very same spot.
However, as Sue and Jeremy celebrate their 41st wedding anniversary on the 15th February, they will do so in their beautiful new home back at Melton Grange, a development by award winning Hopkins Homes.
Originally the centrepiece of an 19th Century estate, the country residence of George Hector Grant JP, the Grade II listed mansion house at Melton Grange was formerly used as a hotel. The Grange has now been carefully converted into six, two bedroom apartments beautifully restored to highlight the building’s former glory. Hopkins Homes has also designed one unique property adjacent to the original building which has been carefully created to replicate the Grange. This 4,000 sq ft property, boasting five bathrooms and five reception rooms, is the property The Bales fell in love with and purchased.
Sue comments: “We had originally planned to downsize from our home in Buckinghamshire as we had a large garden which took a lot to maintain and wanted something smaller. However, we have actually upsized our property in moving to Melton Grange, although we have downsized the garden. We think of the Suffolk countryside as our back garden now, with views over the River Deben and across to Sutton Hoo which are just breathtaking.
“I am originally from Suffolk and both Jeremy and I always intended to retire here one day, we’d just never found the right house. We were married at the local register office 41 years ago, now Suffolk Coastal offices, and held our wedding reception at The Grange. When we heard about the new development we
had to take a look and the rest as they say is history. We love what Hopkins Homes have done and our individual house is wonderful. Woodbridge town is also very close by and offers us some great local amenities. We are so happy here and have finally come home to where it all began.”
There are just four properties remaining at Melton Grange with prices starting from £149,995 for a two bedroom apartment, to £574,995 for a five bedroom detached house.
