Hopkins Homes is a privately owned company at the very forefront of residential development in East Anglia. From the outset, James Hopkins’ vision was to create beautifully designed homes of character, style and substance.
As James says "There's something about the look of older buildings that appeals to all of us. The design, the scale, and the feel - it's something many architects have forgotten. But not at Hopkins. Our approach is to take all the qualities which have stood the test of time to build homes that are easy on the eye and that blend seamlessly with their surroundings.
We use the traditional approach as our platform and onto this build all the convenience, practicality and energy efficiency demanded by today's modern lifestyle. The result is a home that we and many of our purchasers believe is a joy to own and to live in."
Just as important to what Hopkins Homes build, is where the company build, and with strong East Anglian roots and traditional values, the company has expanded its portfolio of developments across East Anglia.
Currently, there are fifteen active Hopkins Homes developments including Felixstowe, Framlingham, Halesworth, Ipswich, Saxmundham, Southwold, and Walsham Le Willows in Suffolk, Aylsham, Costessey, Harleston, Mulbarton and Norwich in Norfolk, Bocking and Lawford in Essex and Soham in Cambridgeshire. Further developments launching this year include Kilverstone and Little Plumstead. In addition, there are 4 new developments within the bespoke Hopkins & Moore brand; within Suffolk there is the picturesque coastal town of Southwold, the abundant countryside of Norton and the historical town of Framlingham whilst in Norfolk the rural idyll of Swanton Morley provides a stunning setting.
Moving forward, there are currently over 20 developments and amongst those imminently due is the refurbishment of the listed, former St Michael’s hospital building in Aylsham, an exciting opportunity for the company to demonstrate its extensive experience and expertise in sympathetic restoration and respect for sensitive renovation which is in itself an area in which they are leading exponents and always eager to embrace further.
Not one to rest on its laurels, Hopkins Homes remains very ambitious for the future and has embarked on a period of significant land acquisition, and to this end would welcome the opportunity to talk to any landowners to whom this may be of interest. The highly experienced Land & Planning team use their specialist skills and expertise to bring about viable intercity regeneration and sustainable brown or Greenfield sites thus maximising land values and achieving planning consent at the earliest opportunity.
Frequently recognised by the NHBC in their Quality Award Scheme, which is the industry's benchmark for quality of a development in terms of build standard and overall site management, Hopkins Homes has also appeared twice in the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 list of the UK's top 100 fastest growing companies. Furthermore, the company’s commitment to style and quality has been recognised both locally and nationally by many within the housebuilding industry and is ably demonstrated by some of the accolades and awards the company has received including regularly appearing in the What House? Awards list of winners, the NHBC Seal of Excellence Award and the highly coveted Housing Design Awards.
From a start in 1992 Hopkins Homes, together with Hopkins & Moore, has grown from a small local company into the largest independent house builder in the East of England with an outstanding reputation for providing well planned homes and creating desirable communities whilst at the same time continuing to expand its horizons, moving further into Essex, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire; cementing the company’s position as an un-rivalled regional developer.
