Mental Health Awareness Week

As we enter Mental Health Awareness Week, we proudly talk about our partnership with Lighthouse Club, the Construction Industry Charity.

The charity exists to improve the welfare and wellbeing of workers in the construction community and offers valuable support for mental, physical and financial wellbeing.

According to Lighthouse Club, two construction workers take their own life every day in the UK and Ireland. The charity’s ‘Help Inside the Hard Hat’ campaign aims to raise awareness of poor mental health within the industry, with a mission to ensure no worker or family feels alone in a crisis.

Dawn Bloom, Head of Human Resources at Hopkins Homes, explained: “The wellbeing of our workforce is arguably one of the most important parts of our HR strategy. Being able to give our employees access to the support services that Lighthouse Club provides, is not only essential to the health of our business but integral to our culture and ethos.”

Lee Barnard, Managing Director of Hopkins Homes, added “I am delighted that Hopkins Homes is a Company Supporter of Lighthouse Club. We are committed to the welfare and wellbeing of our workforce and it’s great to know that anyone in our industry can access the charity’s key services for free. I hope that adding our support to this campaign will further enhance the inspiring work of the Lighthouse Club.”

The partnership gives employees of Hopkins Homes access to a 24/7 confidential helpline, a text-back counselling service and a self-support app. Face-to-face help is also available via several Lighthouse Beacons located throughout the region (including ‘Talk Clubs’ based in Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge).

These services cover all aspects of emotional, physical and financial wellbeing and are available in many different languages. Access to help is available to all staff and their families, as well as subcontractors, agency workers and allied trades.
